Say "Hello" To Our New Intern!

We recently brought on a new intern to help us with our business, youth, and community programming! Read on to find out more about Amisha's incredible background that she's bringing to her work with Green Living Science.

Hi, my name is Amisha, and I recently joined Green Living Science as an intern! I am passionate about sustainability, protecting the environment, recycling, and animal welfare. I am excited to be working with Green Living Science and helping with their mission of increasing sustainability in Detroit. In my day-to-day life, I am a strong advocate for recycling and living sustainably. If I’m walking around and can’t find a recycling bin for my matcha cup, I will hold onto it until I find one. Fun fact: the matcha cup in my picture is actually made from recycled plastic!

I am currently a senior at Wayne State University majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Outside of school and work, I love spending time outdoors, running, kayaking, doing yoga, and dancing. Before starting college, I also had the opportunity to travel throughout Southeast Asia for three months, which gave me the chance to experience different communities, cultures, and environments.

My passion for sustainability also comes from my interest in health and the connection between our environment and our well-being. I am especially interested in health research, including research on how environmental factors such as microplastics affect human health. Learning more about these connections has made me even more aware of the importance of protecting our environment and promoting sustainable practices.

I absolutely love animals and even volunteer at the Humane Society! Caring for the planet feels meaningful to me because our environment plays such an important role in the well-being of both people and animals. I am excited to be part of Green Living Science to promote efforts that increase sustainable living in Detroit. I look forward to everything I will learn and do during my time with Green Living Science!
