Recycling Ambassadors

Curbside Recycling Ambassadors are an integral part of helping support neighborhoods and community members in becoming leaders in sustainability!

About ambassadors

We work to help inform residents of this service, and provide education on what materials can be recycled and how the program works.

 

Detroit’s pilot curbside recycling program began in 2009. In 2015, it went city-wide as an opt in program. Because of this, not everyone who lives in the city is aware that they can start recycling at home.

Thanks to funding from Henry Ford Health and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Green Living Science can provide stipends to high school students in the Detroit school system as an expanded part of the recycling ambassador program.
